The bulk of Bud’mo’s repertoire consists of various arrangements of Traditional
Ukrainian Folk music. Some tunes are authentic transcriptions from the
villages of Ukraine, and others are fully notated composed works, which
are heavily permeated with elements of the traditional folk. Many melodies
originate in various regions of the Western Ukrainian Carpathian region,
while others are specific to the central and
Eastern regions. The traditional instrumentation of this music
varies, yet is usually built around the violin, cimbalom, and bass drum.
Extended variations on this instrumentation usually include the accordion
(or bayan), contrabass (bass fiddle), and various other melodic instruments
such as the sopilka (or other wooden-flutelike instrument).
